Keady Market

Working on a farm, work field trips are a lot more fun than in most other jobs. Since the company I work for this summer is a hand painted merino yarn company, Koigu Wool Designs, Keady market, right outside of Owen Sound, was the perfect place to go as a staff to see some sheepies. Meanwhile we spotted flowers and bought fresh ontario strawberries.

Sadly, the day we ventured to Keady early in the morning was rainy and glum but it gave us an excuse to huddle with our patterned umbrellas.

I'm told by the locals that the large field that Keady takes place in is usually chalk full of stalls and vendors of fresh fruit and crafts, especially in the middle of summer. (As I said it was raining when I visited so there was only one lovely ro…

I'm told by the locals that the large field that Keady takes place in is usually chalk full of stalls and vendors of fresh fruit and crafts, especially in the middle of summer. (As I said it was raining when I visited so there was only one lovely row of stalls). The market takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in the morning.

Look at these adorable little fluffs ready to be sold to a new home!

Keady was also my first time seeing a live stock auction! The cows are sold at a price per pound, and for a lot more money than I would have expected! The room was full of old men in denim overalls that could miraculously understand and react to the ridiculously high speed that the auctioneers speak at. The cows seemed well treated to me so don't you worry :)

Definitely stop by Keady Market on a sunny day in the summer when in the Grey County, Owen Sound area!

Christmas in Toronto

I've always heard that Christmas in Toronto is extravagant but before this year I'd never gotten the chance to take part! So, now living close to all the fun, I made sure to fill my holiday season with as many events as possible to make up for lost time.

I went to the unveiling of the Hudson Bay Christmas windows where Mariah Carey made an appearance with "All I Want For Christmas" (AHH). The windows were stunning, half of them fantastically filled with candy covered mannequins and the other half adorable wintery scenes of animals that moved to the christmas music playing over the speakers.

The crowds at the Mariah Carey free mini-concert were another story however... insane! Police with megaphones and tightly packed spaces like sardines. COMPLETELY still worth it though! (She got paid $1 million for less than 10 minutes!!! um shall I switch careers?)

The Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery Distrcit was beautful as always, but sadly my group of friends that I went with got completely soaked. But once again, worth it for the christmas cheer and massive tree!

My roommates and I found an adorably tiny tree and weighed it down with tiny ornaments and candy canes. Also got my first christmas present while still in Toronto: wrapped in the most beautiful wrapping from a wonderful friend.

My first Christmas in Toronto sure kicked off the holidays the right way!

Hope your holidays were warm, happy and spent with your favourite folks!

Sunshine in a Shortcut

Being in the concrete city day-after-day can get a little grey sometimes, especially since I'm used to living in a relatively small town where parks, trees and grass are abundant.

But the other day, taking a short cut on Ryerson campus between buildings, this ray of sunshine appeared.  And lo and behold - matched my outfit perfectly in my favourite colour!

I love finding little art-filled nooks and happy spaces like this one.
