Dockside Inspo

I've been happily living in my tiny cottage on Georgian Bay for the past few months and have made it a goal to be creative and relax on the dock as often as possible. My laptop perched on a log has become my office and the view along with the soft swishing of the water underneath me has been the perfect background for inspiration.

My cottage's bay is filled with islands and surrounded by rock faces known as the Georgian Bluffs. Since my favourite medium before digital illustration was ink drawing, I've loved to doodle the landscape as a rough sketch, then vectorize and clean it up on Illustrator.

The other night I did exactly that as the sun shining through the clouds in golden rays was too beautiful to not. I'm really happy with the final product and I think it turned out looking a bit like those awesome stickers and patches that backpackers collect from national parks! I've always been jealous of my sister's collection from across Canada. Maybe someday I'll design those, that would be somethin!

Can't wait to keep creating in this stunning place! Eventually a place like this will be my permanent office, I know it.
More to come about cottage adventures and my summer job at Koigu Wool Designs!

Merike
